| Throughout
my life, I have cherished things of the past. The youngest of four, growing
up in the same house where my mother grew up, I was exposed to four generations of
"things". My only wish was that I could have them all, but alas, I do
have three siblings, and try as I might, one cannot keep everything! Approximately three
years ago, we had the unfortunate need to clean out the family house. The good news
of that experience was stirring many wonderful memories... |
Forty
Thirty was founded as a tribute to that house, its basement of
childhood wonder, and the generations who lived in it. Today, I and the associates of 4030, live in
Alameda, California. While we hail from
different backgrounds and different areas of these United States, we share a similar
appreciation and reverence for artistic talent, fine craftsmanship, cleverness, ingenuity,
historical significance and family.

Memories of numerous and
unknown tools in my
grandfather's, and later my father's, workshop, my grandfather was a cabinet maker
frustrated by the depression, using his father's woodworking tools on scrap wood to build
small cabinets and stools.
